I Will Always Love You...

I'm going to try to live blog the Andy Pettitte press conference. Stay tuned, kiddies.

10:26 a.m.: The press conference can be viewed here.

10:28 a.m.: I'm really trying not to cry. Especially since it hasn't even started yet.

10:29 a.m.: To quote Homer Simpson, "Here comes 2!"

10:31 a.m.: It's not working on I might lose it.

10:33 a.m.: Well, this is the worst live blog ever (Of the two I have done). The streaming video isn't even working. I can only tell what's going on via Twitter.

10:37 a.m.: Apparently, it hasn't begun yet. Hold please!

10:39 a.m.: It finally started. As a PR Girl, I should have expected the delay. I'm not digging the silver shirt on Andy.

10:40 a.m.: Happy birthday, Laura Pettitte! Yay Aquarians!

10:41 a.m.: G-chat conversation:

Ashley:  i'm going to cry
he is one of the first yankees i loved
 me:  me too
me too
he was my first yankees crush
10:41 a.m.: Shhhh! Andy is speaking!

10:42 a.m.: "As a man, you wanna work. You're gonna work." God, that's sexy.

10:43 a.m.: My next career goal, after making it into grad school, is to write talking points for baseball players. AJ?

10:45 a.m.: "Heck, I guess I could sit here and ramble all day..." and I would listen, baby.

10:49 a.m.: He said it just didn't feel right. To me either, but in the opposite way...

10:50 a.m.: Is groin his favorite word? Also, Andy, your injury was not a work of God, it was the Devil.

10:52 a.m.: Good question, Brian. We all know Andy changes his mind...Andy calls the reporter out on stalking him in Texas. And with that, Ashley and I hatch a plan.

10:54: a.m. "I'll have one eye on the New York Yankees..." and the other eye

10:56 a.m.: Did Laura Pettitte used to do pageants?

10:58 a.m.: You just had to bring up Houston, didn't you Andy?

10:59 a.m.: Bernie strolls in late. BERNIE!!!!

11:04 a.m.: I still don't understand why I'm not doing PR for the Yankees. Not to belittle anyone at his job, but the @YankeesPR Tweets are seriously lacking.

11:05 a.m.: Andy says that being with the boys was the best part of being a Yankee. It's also the best part of being a fan. I love my boys.

11:06 a.m.: "I never considered myself a Hall-of-Famer." What else would you be, my love?

11:08 a.m.: I wonder if my 11:11 wish I have planned will bring Andy back for the 2011 season?

11:10 a.m.: Ouch! It hurts when you smack me with the Bible, Andy!

11:11 a.m.: Make a baseball wish!

11:12 a.m.: Andy said he "mighta woulda retired" after the 2008 season and it makes me miss the trips I used to take to Texas. I love Texans and their Texasisms. Well, most Texans.

11:13 a.m.: Tino was texting Andy yesterday. That's adorable.Encouraging him to retire in the text, though? Not so adorable.

11:15 a.m.: Andy just said that Laura tried to get him to go another year. I love you, Laura.

11:18 a.m.: "I think this organization is going to be successful." Duh, it's the Yankees, Andy!

11:22 a.m.: "They're special. Special players and special friends." Andy about Mo, Jeters and Jorge. So special.

11:24 a.m.: My friend Sarah just got on a reality show on MTV. I told her I'd talk to her in a minute because Andy is still talking.

11:25 a.m.: "Good job, Andy"

11:26 a.m. Press conference over. Now I cry.

11:28 a.m. I need a hug. Ashley?

  1. Are you sure you wrote this? It sounds like one of Ashleys ramblings about nothing.

  2. Well, Ashley and I ARE twins, so...

  3. What a quitter. There's no retiring in baseball! If Favre can stick it out in football (which is a real man's sport) until he's 80, why can't Pettitte even make it to 40?

  4. Maybe because Andy doesn't have a death wish like Grandpa Farve?
